The three men shown are on the 5 pence value are Tannet Edgeworth David, Sir Douglas Mawson and Alastair Forbes McKay. The 5 and 8 pence values had been prepared when the postal rates were changed. All of the stocks were surcharged with the new rates prior to issue. They do not exist without the surcharge.
